News & Events

  • Main Street, July 4th Parade

Fourth of July really kicks off the high season and Wellfleet puts on an old fashioned street parade with veterans, firetrucks, floats and lots of happy citizens.

Wellfleet celebrates its 250th Anniversary this year and there will be many special events announced all summer long. Find out here: www.wellfleet250.org.

  • Beachcomber Crowd

There are many events, including art gallery openings, poetry readings, theater, live music, hikes, and nature walks all summer. A good place to find out what's going on is www.discoverwellfleet.com maintained by the Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce. Also see: www.wellfleetian.com for a daily calendar covering the Outer Cape.

Note: Due to the influx of Grey Seals and Harbor Seals all the Atlantic Ocean beaches have had sightings of Great White Sharks from time to time. So swimmers and surfers are put on notice to be watchful and obey lifeguards and signs.

  • OysterFest 2012, craft, art and food booths

The popular Wellfleet OysterFest is held on the weekend after Columbus Day. Main Street and adjacent parking lots are closed to traffic and lined with booths containing crafts, art, jewelry, food and, of course, oysters and clams cooked or on the half shell. Did we mention live music, kids events and the great Shucking Contest. Check out: www.wellfleetoysterfest.org.
